A firewall is the first level of protection for a server as it ensures that the incoming and outgoing network traffic is locked down to permitted ports, protocols and IP addresses. An external firewall such as the Memset Firewall provides an additional level of security as it cannot be modified from within the server and sits logically in front of the server ensuring all traffic is routed through it.
This ensures that the configured network policies cannot be altered by someone who has access to the server but does not have authority to modify the firewall, and filtering the traffic at a packet level before it even reaches your server so as not to impact on the Server's performance.
This section provides information on how to use and configure the Memset Firewalling from your Memset Control Panel.
