SFTP access in Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu Linux provides file browsing with Nautilus that supports FTP and SFTP access and is compatible with Memstore™.

The following instructions are valid for any Linux distribution using Gnome desktop / Ubuntu Unity:

  1. Open Nautilus.
  2. Go to the application menu and select "File > Connect to Server...".
  3. When the "Connect to Server" dialog window appears, select SSH in "Service type".
    • Set server to sftp.storage.memset.com
    • Enter your username in "Username". The username has the form product_name.name.
    • Optionally set a bookmark for easy access to your storage.
  4. When you click "Connect" or connect using the bookmark entry, a new dialog window appears asking for your password.
  5. Enter your password and you will be able to access your storage using Nautilus.

Container Users

When using a container user, you won't see any folders representing containers in the root folder of your storage. This is because you are using a limited Memstore™ user that can only access certain resources.

You can use the CTRL+L key combination to open the location bar in the Nautilus window and enter the container name you want to access (remember you'll need read permissions at least for this).
