SFTP access with FileZilla

SFTP access with FileZilla (Mac, Windows, or Linux)

FileZilla is a free open source FTP, SFTP and FTPS client for Windows, Mac and Linux. It provides a split-view of local and remote filesystems in a single window.

FileZilla is compatible with Memstore™'s FTP and SFTP interfaces. This guide will explain how to use FileZilla's SFTP capabilities.

  1. Open FileZilla and press CTRL-S on Windows/Linux or CMD-S on a Mac to open the FileZilla Connection Manager.
  2. Click New Site.
  3. Give the bookmark a name.
  4. Use sftp.storage.memset.com as the server name.
  5. Make sure the protocol is set to SFTP.
  6. Use your Memstore™ product name, followed by a full-stop and then the username. For example, I am connecting as the admin account msdrakeab1.admin.
  7. If you're not connecting to a particular container and are logging in as the admin user, leave the Default Remote Directory field (under the Advanced tab) alone - otherwise you can specify the container in the path field prefixed by a forward slash (/). For example: /myblog.
  8. Leave all other settings as is.

Connecting for the first time

You will most likely see something like the following. This is just Memstore™ presenting it's key for inspection. Please verify that the RSA fingerprint is:

80:93:ed:e9:08:d8:88:b8:10:a5:53:cf:d2:d4:d0:09

If you're happy to continue, click Always trust this host and click OK.

Transferring files

On the left-hand pane, you'll find your local files. The right-hand pane shows the contents of your Memstore™ containers. Just drag files and directories between the two panes to begin transfer.
