Mouse Pointer Alignment

Memshell is a recovery tool available from the Memset Control Panel. It provides a method for you to access the desktop of your Cloud VPS, when networking or normal access is not available. This is a console session direct to the server. i.e. upon reboot the boot sequence is viewable.

Mouse Pointer Alignment

The mouse pointer in Memshell may not align correctly with the dot representing the mouse position in Memshell.

The following details a method to align the dot to the pointer;

Login

  1. Login via you Control Panel and navigate to the Server in question.
  2. Click the Memshell option, then locate the "Memshell VNC Connection Details Section" and click the URL.
  3. Enter the name of your server and the console password listed for your server.
  4. At the bottom right click the Ctrl Alt buttons so they are highlighted then click the Del button.
  5. Click the Ctrl Alt buttons again so they are no longer highlighted (if not done this can cause incorrect keyboard characters to be sent.)
  6. At this point the mouse and dot may not be aligned.
  7. Select the user and enter the password to login. If the mouse is too far out of sync and the username or password field need selecting, use the TAB key to navigate.

Mouse Alignment

Once logged in and the desktop is displayed align the mouse pointer and dot as follows;

If the mouse pointer is high and to one side of the dot - move the mouse to the top corner so the mouse pointer reaches the corner before the dot.

e.g. If the pointer is high and to the right compared to the dot – move the mouse to the top right corner, the pointer and dot should now align. If the pointer is high and to the left compared to the dot – move the mouse to the top right corner, the pointer and dot should now align.

If the mouse pointer is low and to one side of the dot - move the mouse to the bottom corner so the mouse pointer reaches the corner before the dot.

e.g. If the pointer is low and to the right compared to the dot – move the mouse to the bottom right corner. For best results it is best to then realign to one of the top corners as described above, the pointer and dot should now align. If the pointer is low and to the left compared to the dot – move the mouse to the top right corner. For best results it is best to then realign to one of the top corners as described above, the pointer and dot should now align.

The mouse should now track the pointer correctly even when your mouse leaves and rejoins the Memshell window.

If the mouse and dot become misaligned, realign with the procedures above.
