Memset®, an award-winning IT hosting company, has today announced that it has won Public Cloud Product of the Year and was runner-up for Private Cloud Product of the Year in the 2012 Data Centre Solutions Awards.

The Public Cloud Product of the Year category was “open to any product/solution that delivers a public-cloud-based solution to organisations large or small. The product or solution must demonstrate competitive advantage and a measurable ROI to the end-users of the service and have been available in the market since 1st May 2011.” (More details about the categories can be found under: http://www.dcsawards.com/)

Memset’s nominations were initially evaluated by an expert team of judges, with the overall winners being selected by the IT community in a strict voting process limited to businesses with knowledge and familiarity of the datacentre and cloud industries.

Memset secured the prestigious title for their Miniserver VM® technology and accepted the awards at the awards ceremony held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre London Kensington, where DCS Awards Ceremony host Paul Trowbridge announced Memset as the winner.

Bill Dunlop, CEO of award organisers Angel Business Communications, said “The DCS awards are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications and this year we had a significant increase in the number of overall votes. All finalists did well in making the shortlist but Memset was the clear winner in its category Public Cloud Product of the Year.

“We would like to congratulate Memset on winning the 2012 DCS award for Public Cloud Product of the Year, “ commented Bill Dunlop, CEO of award organisers Angel Business Communications.  These awards recognise the users, manufacturers and suppliers operating in the datacentre fields in the European market and are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications.”

Kate Craig-Wood, Memset’s MD, said: “At inception in 2002 our first product was renting out virtual machines on short contracts. Today we host one of the largest VM deployments in Britain as well as petabytes of storage. Our philosophy of 'automate everything' combined with good use of open source software has allowed us to reach scale without the encumbrance of license fees - a saving we pass on to our customers - and without compromising quality.”

“This award is a wonderful accolade both for our technology and our quality of service. It is a testament to the tireless work of my operations and development teams.” concluded Craig-Wood.
