Surrey, United Kingdom - 12 September 2012 – Award-winning, G-Cloud supplier, Memset, has clinched its first significant PaaS contract via the G-Cloud Framework Agreement since the Cloud Store went live some months ago.

Shortlisted as one of eleven suitable providers listed in the Cloud Store, Memset was awarded the contract to host Welsh government agency Estyn’s Microsoft Sharepoint project.  Memset will provide and maintain the infrastructure, initially consisting of 14 Miniserver VMs and 2 Dedicated Servers on monthly contracts, though the expectation is that the services will remain live for some years.

“We’re delighted to secure this contract via the G-Cloud framework. It is a positive sign of government working towards making good their commitment to ensure that 25% by value of contracts go to SMEs. As a tax payer I'm also delighted that G-Cloud is starting to work with government taking advantage of the low prices and short contracts that the private sector enjoys.” said Kate Craig-Wood, MD of Memset.

“It has definitely opened up a lot of new doors for us. It is well known that if you wait to respond to tenders for public sector work it is already too late. G-Cloud is giving newcomer SMEs like us much-needed visibility in the market, and we now have several other promising government opportunities in our sales pipeline.” continued Craig-Wood.

The G-Cloud accreditation process involved about the same amount of work as getting a single government customer on board via old channels, further proving that the G-Cloud is breaking down the barriers for entry. Following the order, Memset has secured Impact Levels 1 and 2 accreditation, which is expected to further enhance the company’s G-Cloud credentials.

Keron McCormack from Estyn said: “Ultimately, it is not just about buying Cloud services at the best price; but ensuring your provider offers SLAs on service delivery and has the ability to scale up to meet requirements in the future.   Using the G-Cloud framework was a very straight forward decision and, via this new mechanism, Memset provided a competitive price and a good match to Estyn’s business requirements.”
